The Factors that Affect Shrinkage Rate of Webbing and Cords

1. Raw materials
The material of fabric is different, then the shrinkage rate is different. Generally speaking, Cotton webbing have a larger shrinkage rate than nylon webbing


2.Density
The shrinkage rate varies with the density of the fabric. If the warp and weft density is similar, the warp and weft shrinkage rate is also close. If the warp density is high, the warp shrinkage will be large. On the contrary, if the weft density is greater than the warp density, the weft shrinkage will be large. A tight braiding drawstring cord will be lower in shrinkage rate, while a one with loose braiding will have a larger shrinkage rate.


3.Thickness of yarn
The shrinkage rate is different when the yarn count is different. Take cotton draw cords for example, 32S/2 yarn will perform better than 21S/2 yarns.


4.Production technology
The shrinkage rate of fabric varies with the production process. Generally speaking,  for those webbing tapes or drawstring cords that apply braiding before dyeing, will have a low shrinkage rate as they will be extended several times. And for that apply dyeing before braiding, the cords and tapes will have higher shrinkage rate.
